Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before your first class at See Pilates.
-
No experience is needed at all. See Pilates is designed to welcome complete beginners as well as experienced movers. Our Beginners/Intermediate Reformer class is built specifically for first-timers, which is why we offer a small 6 bed studio so we can take care of everybody's needs during class, whilst being able to accommodate the intermediate level with clear coaching so you're never lost in the crowd.
-
Reformer pilates is a form of pilates performed on a sliding carriage machine (the “reformer”) that uses springs for adjustable resistance. It builds strength, flexibility and control and balance while being low-impact on the joints, making it suitable for all fitness levels and ages.
-
Wear comfortable, fitted activewear that you can move freely in. Loose clothing can get caught in the reformer's springs and pulleys. Grip socks are required on the reformer (you can buy a pair at the studio if you don't have your own).
-
Bring water, a towel and a pair of grip socks. If you don't have grip socks, they're available to purchase at the studio.
-
You can book online HERE or through the Momence app: just search “See Pilates.” We recommend booking in advance, you can book your favourite classes for up to 3 months ahead so you don't miss out on your preferred time spot or days you want, sizes are capped six per class.
-
Arrive 10 minutes early so your instructor can walk you through the reformer basics before class starts. This is especially helpful if it's your first time on the machine.
-
See Pilates has a female-focused energy and community, however we do offer private or Semi private (duo’s) or private booking out of the studio options for our classes. If you're unsure whether it's the right fit, get in touch at hello@seepilates.com and we're happy to chat.
-
Currently we offer five class types: Beginners/Intermediate Reformer, Strength Reformer, Stretch & Restore Reformer, Express Reformer (30min) and Slow Flow Reformer (3 min), plus Private and Semi-Private sessions (duo’s). Each is designed for a different goal, from building foundations to pushing for strength gains. As always this will change and evolve to what classes we offer at See.

Start with our Beginners / Intermediate Reformer class. It's specifically designed to meet you where you are, with clear coaching and no fitness level required. From there, your instructor can help guide you toward Stretch & Restore, Express or Strength classes as you build confidence.
-
Most classes run for 45 minutes. Express Reformer and Slow Flow Reformer are shorter, 30-minute sessions designed to fit into a lunch break or busy day.
-
Reformer pilates is low-impact and can often be adapted for injury recovery or chronic pain management, but it's important to let your instructor know about any injuries before class so they can modify movements for you. If you have a specific medical condition, we'd also recommend checking with your healthcare provider first.
-
Clinical Pilates is pilates-based exercise tailored toward injury rehabilitation or specific physical conditions, often informed by a clinical or physiotherapy background. Please contact Simone hello@seepilates.com for more info on Clinical Pilates.
-
Many clients continue or return to reformer pilates during pregnancy and postpartum, with movements adapted to suit each stage. Always check with your doctor or midwife first and let your instructor know your stage of pregnancy or postpartum recovery so your session can be tailored accordingly.
-
Private sessions are one-on-one with an instructor, fully tailored to your goals. Semi-Private sessions (duo’s) are for two people training together, sharing the instructor's attention while still receiving a personalised program.
-
Group classes are capped at six people. This keeps every session small enough for genuine personal attention and form correction, no matter your level.
